Published in the Irish Times this morning, news of two staff members from Allianz Dublin head office, have contracted legionnaires disease from the company air conditioning system. The second case was only confirmed last Monday, and with an incubation period of up to 10 days there may be more to come.
How scary is that? This news brings a whole new outlook to the safety at work manual.
Are we all safe at work?
Ironic that if you were seriously affected with an illness contracted in the workplace, it would be a situation where you may actually sue your employer. At least the staff at Allianz will know how to go about it if they choose to be compensated for the inconvenience.
